Biography

Professor Winnick is well-known for his work in two main areas of chemical engineering: thermodynamics and industrial electro-chemical engineering. He has written a well-known text for undergraduate chemical engineers: Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics (Wiley, 1996). Many of his more than 100 publications are in the area of fluid-phase thermodynamics. His other research publications deal mainly with the discovery of, and industrial applications for electro-chemical membrane gas separation, for which he holds seven U.S. patents. He has also conducted research and development of molten-salt and solid-state fuel cells. He has extensive industrial consulting experience dealing mainly with retrofitted environmental cleanup in petroleum refining.
