Scheduling an Appointment

CHBE Undergraduate Advising utilizes the GradesFirst site for appointments. Visit Select your major as Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and you may then select from the advisor calendars. Please note: During busy points in each semester there may be a one-two week waiting time for appointments, so schedule early. Advisors may also conduct group advising sessions which will be advertised to all students prior to the events.

Change of Major

Requests to change major into CHBE are evaluated carefully to ensure students are prepared to enter the rigorous academic environment in the major. Students within their first two semesters of enrollment should contact ellen.murkison [at] (Ellen Murkison) for an informational session. Current GT students in their third semester and beyond or new transfer students must request a meeting with Dr. Pradeep Agrawal, Associate Chair. Successful completion of CHBE 2100 may be required. Change of major forms are processed at the end of each semester, after grades post.

Faculty Mentoring

All students in CHBE are paired with both an academic advisor and a faculty mentor.  The faculty mentors are divided among the standard and biotech options, pre-health and those students completing the BS/MS option.  Students must complete a MANDATORY appointment with their faculty mentor at the following points:

1.       In the first or second semester of enrollment for a resume overview/review

2.       During the semester in which the student is enrolled in CHBE 2100

Frequent contact with faculty mentors provides students with assistance with research opportunities, co-op/internships, curriculum questions, and graduate school or professional options.

Faculty Mentor assignments are viewable here.

Please note: Faculty mentors should be contacted via email or telephone, not the Grades First scheduling system. To view the CHBE faculty directory, click here.
