As stated in our Strategic Plan as Strategic Goal 7: Lead Chemical Engineering in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, ChBE will lead diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in chemical engineering to increase participation of individuals from underrepresented groups at all levels in academia and industry and realize the benefits of diverse thought.

ChBE is a member of the Equity in Graduate Education Consortium, and we base our holistic admissions review process on their recommended best practices. Note that we do not use the GRE in our admissions process.  Fee waivers for financial hardship may be requested.

Admission Requirements

  • B.S. degree in chemical engineering, bioengineering, paper science & engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • Minimum GPA of 3.3/4.0
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores for international students.  Minimum scores are described here: https://www.grad.gatech.edu/english-proficiency

The final date to submit an application is December 15, 2023. We strongly encourage early submission, as admissions are made on a rolling basis.

Most students enter the PhD program directly from the BS.  Most MS students take the coursework non-thesis option, which does not provide funding.  If you are particularly interested in the MS thesis option, please contact Prof. Grover before applying, or consider the GT-EQUAL program.

Register for Georgia Tech’s Virtual Graduate Showcase on October 20.  Prof. Grover will hold an information session from 11 am – 12 pm on the ChBE Graduate Program.

Plan to visit us at our booth at the AIChE Student Conference Recruitment Fair on Sunday November 5 in Orlando, FL.  ChBE faculty and current graduate students will be there to talk with you and answer your questions.
