ChBE Scholarships 

ChBE has several sponsored scholarships that are awarded annually to undergraduate students.  The amounts vary, but typically are $1000-5000 for an academic year.  Examples of scholarships awarded in previous years: 

  • Gossage Internationalization Scholarship – open to F-1 students as well as any student completing a study abroad program 
  • Jones Scholarship – awarded to students who have part time work obligations 
  • Mellinchamp Scholarship – awarded to students in top tier of academic success who have significant service to campus, student leadership experience etc. 
  • Schork Scholarship- awarded to students completing a study abroad program 
  • Chairs’ Junior Scholarship – awarded to a 3rd year student for exemplary academic achievement and service to the school 
  • Chair’s Senior Scholarship – awarded to a 4th/5th year student for exemplary academic achievement and service to the school 

How to Apply: 

Each spring semester (March/April), eligible students can apply for consideration for all ChBE scholarships.  Most scholarships are awarded for the upcoming academic year.  

Study Abroad Scholarships 

For study abroad scholarships, students should also complete an Office of International Education Administered Scholarship application. 

How to Apply: 

Complete a scholarship application by October 15th for Spring/Summer programs or February 15th for Summer/Fall. 

Short Term Financial Assistance 

The Assistant Vice President for Student Life and Brandt-Fritz Dean of Students Chair Office offers emergency loans through the Dean Griffin Hip Pocket Fund. These loans are interest free and can be used for academic or personal matters. 

How to Apply: For more information, complete the Request Assistance Form 

The Financial Aid Office offers Emergency 30-Day Loans to students who need short-term assistance in paying tuition and fees, or cash loans up to $1,500 (not both). These loans are interest free but do have a service fee assessed at the time of the delivery of the loan funds. The loan requires a cosigner. Students cannot borrow in successive terms of enrollment.

STAR:  Students’ Temporary Assistance and Resources 

Temporary assistance including: 

  • Campus Closet – lends appropriate clothing for interviews 
  • Klemis Kitchen – Food pantry for GT students 
  • Crisis Housing- Temporary housing available during emergency situations
